Hit Me With Your Best Shot

I. Am. In. A. Rut.

An awful one.  A horrendous one. A deplorable one. An unending-no-silver-linging-ONE.

*sigh*  I cannot recall the last time (or any time?) I have been this apathetic about reading.

I don't know if I'll even finish the two books I've started for my Read-A-Longs.  (Oliver Twist & The Subjection of Women if you're curious).

Nothing sounds appealing.

Words of advice?

  1. I'm with you. I really haven't read anything in the last week. :(

  2. Oops. I hit post before I meant to.

I am going to force myself to finish the next section of Oliver Twist tonight and tomorrow. Since I have a four-day weekend coming up, I am going to spend at least a day JUST reading. I have too many obligations to stay in this rut. You want to join for a day? or even a couple of hours? We can hound each other to make sure the other is reading!

  3. Allie that sounds awesome. I'm taking Friday off and I have some errands but I want to read the whole day AND well into the night. What day were you thinking??

  4. I have Saturday through Tuesday off and no plans for any day. Which day works best for you out of those?

  5. Someone suggested to me once to go back and read a favorite? Or you could take a small break and read literally nothing for a few weeks and then maybe after that clean break you'll be motivated to read again? Sometimes we just need a break or a change!

  6. haha I was coming here to comment that I heard Allie was having the same issue and maybe you should join her readathon. I guess you guys already got it covered. :D

  7. Sadly, I don't have any advice. I do, however, have some comfort.

It will end. I don't know how, why or when, but it will. For the time being, try some fiddly things like doodling, jump-roping or rearranging furniture. You'll miss your library soon enough.

  8. I wish I could read the whole day and night. Too many other things to do.

  9. Not much in the way of advice, but lots of sympathy and hugs! I hope it passes soon, Christina.

  11. I've only finished two books this year. In six weeks. So I'm with you.

I'd maybe ditch everything and read something you really really love? Or just take a break and enjoy other things. One doesn't ALWAYS have to be reading (waiting for the stones to be cast in my direction). ;)

Hugs. It can be frustrating--been there, done that. Now I just don't care as much. LOL!

  12. I've been reading but not as much as usual. I don't know if it's the weather or the changing seasons or the post-holiday blahs or what. Hope you get over the slump soon!
