TSS - Pain in the -

The Life

Oh bloggers, let me share my humiliation and pain.  So on Friday I was in the middle of doing my workout routine (Kettleworx, which I heart big time) and at some point, in the mix of getting up from the floor, I tweaked a nerve.  Now.  I would love to give dagger looks to the workout, but this is where evidence one of my humiliation comes into play – it wasn’t a workout move.  Nope.  I just got up wrong. (Secretly D is probably thrilled as she has been calling me “old lady”).  I took a hot shower, sat in a proper chair for dinner, and decided to call it a night.  Well…after laying in bed watching some tele, I tried to get up only to realize there was no way in hell that was gonna happen.  Seriously, I was flopped on the bed, belly down, in this painful huff.  This was when D realized that there was a serious issue.  I never have crocodile tears.  So, off to the Mini ER we went: tear-stained, disheveled clothes because I had difficulty dressing, unbrushed hair.  Normal ER visit.  Enter humiliating factor number dos. My doctor ended up being a college buddy that I used to hang out with “back in the day” and hadn’t seen in fifteen years.  Yup. Who know.  So he’s trying to catch up (what I imagine would have been chit chat about sundries had we not known each other) and I’m miserable in this awkward situation.  Seriously. It just felt weird having someone treat you and be all doctorly about your weight and blood pressure and medications and can you do this or can you do that when you HUNG OUT as a kid.

Now I’m medicated.  And immobile.  And bored. But hazy-bored. So I’m not really doing much reading.  Just watching lots of shows.  (Speaking of which, Get Him To The Greek…FREAKIN’ HYSTERICAL).

The Blog

Prior to *the incident* I did manage to post a couple of reviews and musings this past week.  Yay for that.

The Books

This week, I finished

  • Dracula In Love by Karen Essex
  • Matchless by Gregory Maguire
  • The Twisted Thread by Charlotte Bacon

This up and coming week, I plan on reading

Although that I know definitely is I’ll be finishing, I’m too foggy to predict anything further.

Supernatural Noir edited by Ellen Daltrow.  (arc)

  1. I know the feeling of hazy boredom, but at least the pain is gone. Hope you're back up to speed soon.

  2. Like I said on twitter the other day, OUCH!! If it doesn't get better despite all the doctors did, I highly recommend a chiropractor. :)

  5. Oh no! That was me right after BEA when I pulled a muscle in my neck. Just rest. I didn't and it took longer to heal. Watch TV. If you haven't seen Arrested Development, I recommend it. :)

  6. My hubby tweaked a nerve this week that sent us to Urgent Care. He wasn't working out either, just getting dressed ;)
    Hope you're all better.
